McNeese State University officials are paying close attention to a possible
threat to campus security. ³We have received some information that could be
a threat to campus security,² Candace Townsend, McNeese director of public
information and communication said.
³We take every rumor seriously,² Dr. Robert Hebert, McNeese president said.
³We convened members of the crisis response team to review the information
and the university continues to investigate the matter.²
Hebert also said that employees and students are strongly encouraged to sign
up for the McNeese emergency notification system, FirstCall. ³We will use
FirstCall to communicate emergency messages to students, faculty and staff.²
Anyone with a McNeese email account can register multiple phone numbers and
a secondary email address for the alert system. "Students can also include a
phone number for their parents," Hebert said.
To register for FirstCall notification, members of the campus community can
visit the McNeese home page at www.mcneese.edu and click on the Register Now
First Call button. Registration is free and contact information is used for
emergency purposes only,
Anyone with information about a possible threat to the McNeese campus should
contact Lt. Jared LeBleu in the McNeese Police Department at 562-4110 or the
Dean of Students Office at 475-5706.
McNeese Police Chief Cinnamon Salvador said individuals can also submit
information through the McNeese Police Department¹s Silent Witness Program.
